SCRAM is an interactive role play competition for Western Australian Year 9 & 10 high school students which facilitates the development of peaceful dispute resolution awareness and skills in secondary school communities.

Students mediate simulated disputes which relate to their everyday lives. The outcome of the mediated process is a mutual agreement which acknowledges the needs of all involved.

Wares give college $1 million for peacemaking, conflict resolution

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Elizabethtown College has received a $1 million endowment from Judy S. and Paul W. Ware of Lancaster to expand its global citizenship program and peacemaking and conflict-resolution efforts.

The gift will be used to create the Ware Colloquium on Peacemaking and Global Citizenship, which will bring international speakers to Elizabethtown to discuss global issues.

College officials hope the gift also enables Elizabethtown to train students to resolve conflicts on campus and throughout Lancaster County.

"Learning skills in conflict resolution and being good citizens of our world will certainly aid (students) in many ways,” Judy Ware said in a statement.

A 1968 graduate of Elizabethtown College, Ware is a member of the college board of trustees.

She said the Ware Colloquium will strengthen Elizabethtown’s identity as a college founded in the Brethren tradition of peace, nonviolence and human dignity.
