In 2009, Microsoft has commitments to spend $1.226 billion on new construction (check Redmond) and $440 million on property leases (check Bellevue, South Lake Union and Pioneer Square). Lease spending will be $831 million from 2010-2012, then $522 million from 2013 to 2015.

At the full service plan, which starts at $15 per month - consists of full featured hosted versions of Exchange, Sharepoint, Communication Server, live meeting and more. The capabilities of the standard service plan at $15 per user per month are similar to those of the standard editions of each of these applications.

Gates noted his company had "a renewed effort to invest in Internet Explorer".
"We are hard at work on a new version of that: IE 8 - a very creative name we came up with," he said.
He also talked up Microsoft's plans for Oslo, which will feature a new modeling language, repository, storage mechanism and way to manipulate models. A Community Technology Preview (CTP) is due this fall. The next edition of Visual Studio, meanwhile, will support the Object Management Group's Unified Modeling Language (UML).

to 61.6 percent, up from 59.8 percent the previous month. Yahoo! Sites ranked
second with 20.4 percent, followed by Microsoft Sites (9.1 percent), AOL LLC

Microsoft (MSFT) will announce its Hail Mary attempt to stave off a Google (GOOG) search monopoly this morning, TechCrunch reports. This is the "disruptive" development Microsoft's Kevin Johnson alluded to last week. It is also a plan Microsoft briefly discussed a couple of years ago (to applause, at least from this analyst).
