The Schools We Need Presentation - Chris Lehmann

The Schools We Need Presentation
I'm in St. Louis, post presentation, and I'm pretty pleased with how it went. It's not easy for me to figure out how to talk to audiences that aren't made up of educators, because the question is always what is the balance between the universal ideas and the deep entry into pedagogy. Judging from the reaction, folks seemed to think that I struck a good balance today. I had a lot of people come up and tell me that I really challenged them to re-think their ideas about school design, and that's thrilling to me. A few folks asked me about strategies to get educators and facilities folks talking more, which is also really exciting.

Tags: presentation learning building practical

Posted by: drichards

Off to Princeton | Welcome to NCS-Tech!

I’ve spent the last couple of hours going through my slides and reviewing reflections by Suffern Middle School teachers & students in preparation for my talk on Friday. Bouncing around between Twitter posts I happened upon Larry Ferlazzo’s recent entry entitled Maintaing a “Good” Class and realized that it captures the essence of what I want my presentation to be about - how a successful classroom features engaging curriculum taught in an engaging way. It’s what we all strive for, and it’s what I’ve seen at many schools, including my own, but especially at Suffern, and in Second Life.

Tags: presentation tools resources

Posted by: drichards
