Andrei Platonov (Russian: Андрей Плато́нов) (September 1, 1899 – January 5, 1951) was the pen name of Andrei Platonovich Klimentov, a Russian writer of the Soviet period whose works anticipate existentialism. Platonov was one of the early writers who emerged after the Russian revolution. Although he was a Communist, his works were banned in his own lifetime for their skeptical attitude toward collectivization and other Stalinist policies. His famous works include The Foundation Pit and Chevengur, both dystopian novels.

Wow. This one really fuckin' hit home. I've been slowly having the same realization about myself recently, and I'm better for it. As a kid, I was also constantly praised as being very smart and gifted. Being Asian didn't help either - kids would constantly say, "Oh you're Asian! That means you're smart!" I actually thought for a long time that hard work was an admission of defeat, because if you were actually smart, you wouldn't have to work so hard! This was fine for my earlier years, but as life started throwing more and more difficult challenges that I couldn't just immediately "get", my self-esteem suffered.

And it fixed almost all problems (except hogging my machine resources). BBC player works just fine now (pause/play work without a hitch).

This is what I did:



1) Downloaded the Python 2.5.4 source from the python website

2) Extracted the source and read the readme

3) used 4) used 5) used doing this kept my original 2.6 version the system default.

Please excuse me if this issue has been previously addressed but I have not been able to find the fix. I am new to Flowplayer but have found it straight forward to setup using the basic source code and setup steps to get a basic video show working. I have now a commercial license'



The problem is that if the player's container is positioned near a nav bar it will drop down and hide behind the container, losing access to links. I have tried setting the z-index to different values but this makes no difference. If I insert a jpeg image there's no problem, it seems to be confined to the video.

I have a simple HTML page with a listbox to choose a clip, and a DIV for Flowplayer which is resized on a clip's onStart event so that it's shown at exactly the right size (from metadata).



Works great except for one thing - the initial startup is ugly. Without any initial size attributes, the DIV occupies a large amount of the page, consequently a huge Flowplayer appears as it loads. This looks silly as, once the first clip plays, it shrinks considerably.



I really want Flowplayer to be invisible until it starts to play the first clip and has been sized accordingly, but try as I might I can't get it to work.

Since Flowplayer verion 3.1.1 you are able to configure RSS playlists. These playlists are loaded from an external file which uses the Media RSS XML syntax for describing videos. This example has four videos in a playlist. The RSS configuration is shown below the video.
