Mice with less image-processing power also have problems tracking fast movement, though high-end mice can track at 2 m/s (80 inches per second) and faster.

The advent of affordable high-speed, low-resolution cameras and the integrated logic in optical mice provides an ideal laboratory for experimentation on next-generation input-devices. Experimenters can obtain low-cost components simply by taking apart a working mouse and changing the optics or by writing new software.

“Learning in Depth” is a simple though radical innovation in curriculum and instruction designed to ensure that all students become experts about something during their school years. Each child is given a particular topic to learn about through her or his whole school career, in addition to the usual curriculum, and builds a personal portfolios on the topic. To the surprise of many, children usually take to the program with great enthusiasm, and within a few months LiD begins to transform their experience as learners. The program usually takes about an hour a week, with the students working outside school time increasingly.

To showcase the potential, I’ve rapidly developed a simple IDE (Integrated Development Environment) called Webpy.
 This bundle is meant as a starting point for developing complex and rich visual activities.

The liveusb-creator is a cross-platform tool for easily installing live operating systems on to USB flash drives.

With this approach, does it become possible to have web-accessible demos for Activities? It would be sooo helpful to have anyone interested in OLPC be able to “try it” and see what it really does before they have to install anything.

If you know of anyone who knows more about math, chemistry, bio-chemistry, physics, engineering, or any of the sciences then try to get them on video showing how they solve problems. Call it their community service without the hassle of going to a classroom... if they are unwilling, then guilt them into by it by pointing out how miserable the world is today and all the bigger problems that need better problem solvers. Make the simple connection of 'better education equals better jobs means better life'.
