O God, awhere art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy bhiding place?

        2
aHow long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thy pure eye, behold from the eternal heavens the wrongs of thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their cries?

        3
Yea, O Lord, ahow long shall they suffer these wrongs and unlawful boppressions, before thine heart shall be softened toward them, and thy bowels be moved with ccompassion toward them?

        4
O Lord God aAlmighty, maker of bheaven, earth, and seas, and of all things that in them are, and who controllest and subjectest the devil, and the dark and benighted dominion of Sheol—stretch forth thy hand; let thine eye pierce; let thy cpavilion be taken up; let thy dhiding place no longer be covered; let thine ear be inclined; let thine eheart be softened, and thy bowels moved with compassion toward us.

        5
Let thine aanger be kindled against our enemies; and, in the fury of thine heart, with thy bsword cavenge us of our wrongs.

        6
Remember thy asuffering saints, O our God; and thy servants will rejoice in thy name forever.

    • Mormon teens become targets of beating

Two Gilbert teens found with swastika marks on their wrists are accused of firing pellets at two boys and beating them up because they are Mormon, according to a police report released Monday.

Police said the attack Saturday evening at a neighborhood park northeast of Islands Elementary School left one victim, a 15-year-old boy, with facial injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.

According to the report, the teens accused in the attack near Elliot and McQueen roads went up to the boy and a 17-year-old and asked if he and the 15-year-old were Mormon. When the two answered "yes," the teens began shooting a pellet gun at them. Police say the fight escalated from there, with the teens making anti-Mormon statements during the assault.<!-- BOXAD TABLE -->

The teens who are accused of firing the guns, ages 15 and 16, were arrested outside one of the boy's homes that night. They were booked into the Maricopa County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and underage drinking. The 16-year-old also is accused of DUI.

The Arizona Republic typically doesn't release the names of minors in such cases.

Gilbert was once home to a White-supremacist gang of teenagers. In 1999, the Devil Dogs garnered national media attention for beating up people, as well as being tied to a drug ring and former mobster Salvatore "Sammy the Bull" Gravano. The group was disbanded after numerous arrests.
  • Special report: International growth forces LDS women to face different pressing issues - Salt Lake Tribune on 2008-05-11
    • Chantal Thompson was not surprised when her family disowned her for joining the LDS Church. They had warned her they would.

But Thompson, a young French woman who believed she had found eternal truth, was undeterred. She was baptized on her 18th birthday in the English Channel, as was her older sister. Though there were few Mormons at her French university and not many in the tiny branch where she attended services, she threw herself into church activity with gusto.

Four decades later, Thompson, now a Brigham Young University French professor, sees that same kind of independence and determination among many Mormon women outside the U.S. Many, especially those in some African nations and other Third World countries, face unimaginable hurdles not just in joining the LDS Church but in navigating their daily lives amid family responsibilities and economic hardship. But the church, with its all-volunteer leaders including those who direct the female Relief Society, provides a chance for such women to speak publicly and manage their own organization possibly for the first time in their lives.

    • North Carolina also happens to be FCC Chair Kevin Martin's home state, a factoid unmentioned in the agency's Thursday press release. "I commend the Wilmington broadcasters for their pioneer spirit to go first to help the entire country prepare for the final transition to digital on February 17, 2009," Martin said. "This experience will help us to spot issues that we need to address elsewhere in the country before next February.”
