- 把手电用线绑好，挂在天花板上，灯头向下。改变线的长度可以获得不同的拍摄效果，大家可以多做尝试获得自己喜欢的效果。
- 把相机准备好，放在手电的正下方，镜头对着手电灯头。请仔细检查手电绑好没有，如果拍了一半手电掉下来把镜头给砸了你就悲剧了！！
- 把相机的曝光时间设置到“bulb”（即手动控制曝光时间），另外需要使用小光圈，ISO设置到50或者100。
- 把房间的灯都关了，制造暗房。打开手电，然后抛出手电让它开始做抛物线旋转运动，此时相机开始曝光。使用不同的力度和角度抛出手电，可以产生不同的效果。
- 用不同的快门时间，原作者的有些照片曝光达到了3、4分钟。
- 另外用以下方式可以获得更加有创意的效果：在曝光过程中，用纸板把镜头盖住，然后抓住手电并重新抛出手电，此时移开纸板，并继续曝光。
