  • AdSense Arbitrage: Tips, Tricks and Secrets on 2009-11-07
    • Google’s smart pricing feature automatically adjusts the cost of a keyword-targeted content click. So if our data shows that a click from a content page is less likely to turn into actionable business results – such as online sales, registrations, phone calls, or newsletter signups – we reduce the price you pay for that click.
  • Is Article Submission Equivalent to Duplicate Content? | Marketing Words Copywriting Blog on 2009-08-17
    • My advice would be 1) to avoid over-syndicating the articles that you write, and 2) if you do syndicate content, then make sure that you include a link to the original content. That will help ensure that the original content has more PageRank, which will aid in picking the best documents in our index.”
    • Place the article on your site and allow it to get indexed before you distribute. This way, you establish yourself in Google’s database as the original writer.

  • Alt Tag Vs. Link Title Attribute: Which Is More Important? on 2009-07-14
    • I do believe that the title attribute is of some importance, though probably not as important as the image alt tag
    • According to the same SEOmoz study, bold text with keyword usage is only slightly less important than the alt tag
  • Practical guide to subversion on Windows with TortoiseSVN on 2009-07-10
      • This structure is necessary for more advanced project management, but it does
not hurt to create it beforehand. Some tutorials first recommend to import this
structure into the repository and later add the project. I recommend the
        following shortcut.

        • Backup your project (C:\Projects\MyProject.), just in case.
        • Delete all unnecessary files that are not included in your global ignore
          list
        • Move the contents of \MyProject into the trunk subdirectory (C:\tmp\new\trunk).
We will need an empty directory later, anyway.
        • Import the 'new' directory into the repository (Right-click/TortoiseSVN/Import):

    • What it boils down to is this: NAME is not an alternative to ALT/TITLE. If Dreamweaver doesn't support the latter attributes, you should get an update or make manual adaptions.
  • adaptive path » blogger case study on 2009-06-26
    • Blogger came to Adaptive Path to determine how it could convert more new site visitors into Blogger users. Adaptive Path, in coordination with Stopdesign, completely overhauled Blogger's site and helped accomplish its goal.
  • Aligning LI and UL bullets with CSS on 2009-06-24
    • IE gives me the same problem so what I do is insert an "_". Let me show you . . .

      li {text-align: left; margin: 1em; _margin: 2em; line-height: 1em; padding: 1em; _padding: 2em;}

Mozilla will ignore the values with the "_" in front of them but IE uses them and they override the previous value. All you have to do is tweak the first value so it works in Mozilla and then the second to work in IE.

    • oday we deleted the twitterfollow@tweetlater.com email address and switched off the autoresponder that has been sending messages for many days asking folks to disable the forwarding rule. The autoresponder was causing an enormous load on the mail system and interfered with the keyword alert emails and @replies emails that we send out. Hence, this is the reason why the forwarded emails are now bouncing as undeliverable.
