  • CNSNews.com - Senator Conrad: If You Don’t Believe in Civilian Court Trials for Terrorists, ‘Go Somewhere Else’ 36 minutes ago

    • On Capitol Hill on Nov. 19, CNSNews.com asked Conrad: “We’re going to have a civilian trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. If our troops -- the evidence against him is going to be found in Afghanistan, there on the battlefield -- if our troops need to enter a house and they think that there’s evidence there, should they have to establish probable cause and get a search warrant from a judge first?”

Conrad said: “You’re not being serious about these questions, are you?”
  • Dobbs Reaches Out to Latinos, With Politics in Mind - WSJ.com about 1 hour ago
    • First, though, Mr. Dobbs is working to repair what a spokesman conceded is a glaring flaw: His reputation for antipathy toward Latino immigrants. In a little-noticed interview Friday, Mr. Dobbs told Spanish-language network Telemundo he now supports a plan to legalize millions of undocumented workers, a stance he long lambasted as an unfair "amnesty."

"Whatever you have thought of me in the past, I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together," he said in a live interview with Telemundo's Maria Celeste. "I hope that will begin with Maria and me and Telemundo and other media organizations and others in this national debate that we should turn into a solution rather than a continuing debate and factional contest."

Mr. Dobbs twice mentioned a possible legalization plan for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., saying at one point that "we need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions."

    • Don't Look Now: James Carville and Stanley Greenberg often don't promote the polls that are bad for Dems, charges Brian Faughnan--and now there's another one just sitting on their website, unhyped, showing that fully 45% of likely voters describe themselves as "conservative." ... Carville and Greenberg even had a hot news peg they could have used--Lou Dobbs pulling 6% in a race against Obama, Romney and Nader. ... Obama gets 45%, Romney 38% ... P.S.: Better that they adjust the hype rather than adjust the polling.

  • Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist - Iraq | War | Map - FOXNews.com about 18 hours ago
    • Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.
    • United States Central Command declined to discuss the detainee, but a legal source told FoxNews.com that the detainee was turned over to Iraqi authorities, to whom he made the abuse complaints. He was then returned to American custody. The SEAL leader reported the charge up the chain of command, and an investigation ensued.

The source said intelligence briefings provided to the SEALs stated that "Objective Amber" planned the 2004 Fallujah ambush, and "they had been tracking this guy for some time."

  • Census worker killed himself, tried to make it look like homicide, officials conclude - Latest News - Kentucky.com about 20 hours ago
    • Tests indicated that the letters were applied from the bottom to the top not the way an assailant facing Sparkman would write them. Police concluded that Sparkman wrote on himself, Rudzinski said.
    • For instance, there was no evidence that Sparkman had struggled with anyone. There were no wounds on his body, Rudzinski said.

Tests ruled out any theory that he was drugged and unconscious when he was tied to the tree, making the lack of signs of a struggle more significant.
Also, Sparkmans glasses were taped to his head. The question that raises is why a killer would care whether Sparkman, who had poor vision, could see what was going on.

On the other hand, if Sparkman was writing on his chest or preparing to kill himself, it would matter that he could see.

  • Hot Air » Blog Archive » Breaking: Massacre at Fort Hood; Update: Feds tracked Hasan’s posts online for six months? Update: Surveillance video added about 20 hours ago

    • Update: This story deserves its own post but an update here will have to do: Remember that census worker who was found hanged, allegedly with the word “Fed” scrawled on his chest, which was of course instantly the fault of bloodthirsty wingnuts everywhere? The AP reports today that investigators increasingly doubt he was murdered and are looking now at suicide. Just something to bear in mind when the tut-tutting over making assumptions about Hasan begins tomorrow.
