  • Unfrisierte Gedanken on 2007-02-13

  • EdWiki - Home on 2007-02-12
  • WebLog < Beat < wiki.doebe.li on 2007-02-12
  • Information retrieval in document spaces using clustering on 2007-02-11
    • Finally, we have found strong evidence that the LSA-based method for keyword extraction is better for subsequent clustering, than pure truncation of terms based on their local weight.
  • GHA Lab 1.0 on 2007-02-11
    • GHA Lab is an open source command-line experimentation environment written in Java. It allows small scale experimentation with Latent Semantic Analysis and a number of associated experimental techniques such the Generalized Hebbian Algorithm (GHA) and its extension to paired data, the Asymmetric Generalized Hebbian Algorithm (AGHA) (Gorrell 2005, Gorrell 2006). For example, the following can be readily accomplished:
  • SVDLIBC on 2007-02-11
    • SVDLIBC is a C library based on the SVDPACKC library, which was written by Michael Berry, Theresa Do, Gavin O'Brien, Vijay Krishna and Sowmini Varadhan. SVDLIBC offers a cleaned-up version of the code with a sane library interface and a front-end executable that performs matrix file type conversions, along with computing singular value decompositions. Currently the only SVDPACKC algorithm implemented in SVDLIBC is las2, because it seems to be consistently the fastest. This algorithm has the drawback that the low order singular values may be relatively imprecise, but that is not a problem for most users who only want the higher-order values or who can tolerate some imprecision.
  • LSA Tutorial on 2007-02-11
    • Briefly, Latent Semantic Analysis is a method in which singular value decomposition is used to form semantic generalisations from textual passages. It uses the fact that certain words appear in similar contexts to establish relationships between the meanings of the words. It allows textual passages to be compared to each other more intelligently than by directly comparing the words they share. Words that never appear together can be meaningfully compared etc.
  • Quantian on 2007-02-09
    • Quantian is a remastering of Knoppix, the self-configuring and directly bootable cdrom/dvd that turns any pc or laptop (provided it can boot from cdrom/dvd) into a full-featured Linux workstation. Quantian also incorporates clusterKnoppix and adds support for openMosix, including remote booting of light clients in an openMosix terminal server context. Earlier releases are still available; see below for URLs for downloads as well as ordering information.
