How Important is Education? on 2009-11-18
-
One cannot neglect the impact of education in the human society. In fact, in today’s world a person is not given importance if he/she is not educated. Education not only trains the human mind, but also helps us to take the right decision. One can say that education essentially rationalizes us.
-
It is through education that wisdom, knowledge and information can be received and spread all over the world. An uneducated person is unable to read or write. Hence, he/she is closed to all the knowledge and wisdom that he/she can gain through books and other mediums. In other words, the entire world is unreachable to the person. It won't be wrong to say that an educated man lives in a room that has all its windows open towards outside world.

Education - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia on 2009-11-18
-
Education in its broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

he emergence of secondary education in the United States did not happen until 1910, caused by the rise in big businesses and technological advances in factories (i.e. emergence of electrification), that required skilled workers. In order to meet this new job demand, high schools were created and the curriculum focused on practical job skills that would better prepare students for white collar or skilled blue collar work. This proved to be beneficial for both the employer and the employee, because this improvement in human capital caused employees to become more efficient, which lowered costs for the employer, and skilled employees received a higher wage than employees with just primary educational attainment.

A week after the election, Democrats in New Jersey are wondering how to live in a post-Corzine world.
Since 2000, Gov. Corzine has spent at least $190 million of his own money on Democratic races - three of his own and dozens of others. And by largely funding his own U.S. Senate run and two gubernatorial campaigns, he allowed donors to concentrate on other races.

Former State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo is due to report to federal prison tomorrow, assigned to serve his 55-month sentence at a low-security institution in Ashland, Ky. His attorneys have fought that, wanting Fumo placed closer to family in Philadelphia.
What's definite, experts say, is that prisons specialize in turning people like Fumo from kings to peasants.

Fatimah Ali: Saving the Derrions & the Rolands | Philadelphia Daily News | 10/13/2009 on 2009-10-22

Like the four teens accused in the senseless beating death of 16-year-old Derrion Albert, the honors student caught in a turf war on his way home from school in Chicago last month, the perpetrators of these crimes have no regard for life. Minister Louis Farrakhan spoke at Albert's funeral and called his death a "call to action" - which I think should come in the form of something drastic, like a trip to the morgue. For shock value.

PHILADELPHIA - September 25, 2009 (WPVI) --
The arrests of terror suspects in three separate areas of the United States led to government security warnings for mass transit facilities, stadiums and hotels.
It's part of the reason authorities want to talk to two men who were seen taking photographs at Philadelphia SEPTA subway stations. The first incident happened at the Snyder Avenue station on Tuesday afternoon. He was seen on surveillance camera snapping photos in the area around the tracks. Police are not releasing his picture, just saying he's a white man in his 20s with a ponytail. He was also carrying a backpack.
