However the literature on ICT and internationalization remains
fragmented and rarely empirically based, generally failing to differentiate
adequately between two fundamental perspectives. Firstly the role of ICT in
internationalisation, where ICT is introduced as part of existing international
activities, as a supplement and secondly the role of ICT for
internationalization where ICT itself becomes a central driver providing
essential tools to facilitate the internationalization process.
