    • n many respects, Rizzo was not a typical commissioner. He sometimes quarreled with the city's mayor, James H. J. Tate. He was boisterous and brooding, particularly to media. A biography of Rizzo, with an introduction written by future police commissioner John Timoney, recounted: "Of one group of anti-police demonstrators, he is reported to have said, 'When I'm finished with them, I'll make Attila the Hun look like a fag.'" A female reporter who covered the Rizzo years, Andrea Mitchell (now of NBC News), recounted routine brutish behavior as part of a broad pattern of bravado.[5]


      Rizzo resigned in 1971 to run for mayor.

    • Bad puns aside, I'm really liking how the new Barnes and Noble ereader is shaping up. The Nook, for some reason, looks to be hitting all the right notes for me- from its $259 price point, to the color panel on the bottom. I'll still say for now this is not the right device for me- between my iPod Touch and Blackberry I couldn't manage another device- but it looks very tempting and extremely sleek.

      We're getting a lot of questions about whether you can use nook to buy eBooks outside the U.S.


       


      The answer is that you can certainly read any of the content on your nook whereever you are. And if you're on Wi-Fi, you can access and download any content in your online eBooks Library (sometimes called the digital locker). This includes any subscription content that arrives during your travels.


       


      But you cannot buy new Barnes & Noble eBooks (through nook or our website) when you are overseas. We're sorry, but this is a rights issue that we have to abide by.


       


      We're looking at our international options, but don't have any news on that front right now.
