  • Anyone know how to get pictures off an ipod? [Archive] - Revision3 Forums on 2009-08-25
    • It's on a PC

First you'll have to activate Disk Mode:

      1)
Launch itunes and hookup the ipod to your PC

      2) In the left-hand pane
under devices, single click on your ipod so the Preferences is up in the main
      itunes viewing pane.

      3) Check the "Enable Disk Use" at the bottom of the
      pane

      4) Click "Apply" in the lower-right hand corner to apply the
      change

At this point a warning will pop up telling you that you have to
remember to manually eject the ipod now with this mode enabled. Once you've
gotten the pictures you'll probably want to go back and disable disk use. So
just do all these steps again to disable it.

      Now to view the hidden
      files.

      1) Go to My Computer. Your ipod show now be viewable in the list
      of available drives.

      2) In the My Computer window, with your ipod
highlighted select the following menu options from the Menus at the top of the
      window
Tools > Folder Options > View Tab > Show Hidden Files and
      Folders

The "Show Hidden Files and Folders" radio button should be about
the 10th selection down on the list. Select it and hit apply in this
      window.

Close out of the "Folder Options" menu and go back to My
      Computer.
Now you should be able to open up your ipod and navigate the file
structure like any other drive and hopefully find and delete those pictures you
want to get rid of. And of course, be careful about not deleting other stuff in
there that you might need for the ipod to function normally.
