So a basic question: what exactly is frontend engineering? I have a few different ways to define it, and then we’ll look at what it’s made of as we continue. One simple way to say what we do is that we’re the ones that write software in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

An even simpler answer might be to say we’re responsible for “view source”. So, regardless of how your organization or your team is structured, the frontend engineer is responsible for everything that gets sent over the wire to the user’s browser
