But, too often, we don’t get the fresh start that everything else seems to get
because of illness, debt, previous decisions we’ve made, and circumstances
beyond our control. Political, bureaucratic, and decisions by “others” often
place us in circumstances that are certainly not in our best interest. And, as
is often the case, there is nothing that we can do about it – except try to make
the best of it. This may be particularly true of our health. We have to make the
best of what we inherited. We can neither help the mistakes that our parents
made nor change the mistakes and bad decisions that we made in younger years;
however, we can determine to do a lot of things that will go a long way toward
correcting problems and bad habits – things we must do, or the consequences will
be painful later if we don’t.
