Bonnaroo is truly a spectacular place, it offers more than just music and attractions, its a destination. This year's Bonnaroo experience promises to be one for the ages, boasting a tremendously diverse lineup of musical acts and genres. There is something for everyone this year. The return of the scruffy neighborhood record shop is as unexpected as the revival of vinyl. After CDs first hit the U.S. market in 1983, LPs were deemed largely obsolete. Later, consumers' shift to file-trading and online retail outlets such as iTunes and Amazon.com gutted the storefront music business.

People go to [the Web] instead of buying records," says Jay Rosenthal, senior vice-president and general counsel for the National Music Publishers' Assn., a Washington (D.C.)-based trade group that represents publishers of songwriters and composers.
Can U2 save the music industry? The short answer to that is: Duhhh! Of course not! "You've got a music industry that has been brutalized by digital media—so they're eager to take advantage of anything they possibly can," said James McQuivey, media analyst for Forrester Research. "Then you have YouTube, which has yet to figure out a way to make money on its amazing traffic and videos. These are all parties who are extremely motivated."
