"Lessons for Excel\nOld 09-04-2008, 02:30 PM\n \n #3\nFirst I go over the parts of the Excel window and the vocabulary that is going to be used.\n\nThen I show them how to modify the column widths and row hights.\n\nNext they practice modifying the cell color and borders, and I show them that formatting text is the same as in Word.\n\nThen we do a simple survey of a topic they all can relate to such as favorite colors, pizza toppings, cats vs. dogs, etc. You can decide how to set it up. I change my mind every year!\n\nWe all use the Chart Wizard to make an appropriate chart or graph next. Once it is made, I demonstrate how to change to colors of the different parts of the chart. (They have WAY too much fun doing this!) I do this for fourth grade.\n\nIn fifth grade, after a brief review and a demonstration of how to add the sum a column or row (simple equations), we do the famous Skittles project. I have attached a copy of it with my modifications. Feel free to make any changes that you want! (M & Ms could be used too!)"
