Anna Liza's List: Plot Bunnies

An AU of 3x12/3x13 wherein Morgana and Morgause take over Camelot ... and are absolutely amazing queens. They exile the knights instead of threatening to kill them, they get the common people on their side by using their magic for good and getting rid of bandits and helping their crops grow, they legalize magic and bring back people like Alice and Gilli.

Arthur takes his throne back eventually (or not, if that's what author wants), but has to acknowledge that Camelot was a happier and more secure place with magic. Bonus for Merlin, Gwen, knights, and even Uther and Gaius rethinking things after they saw how Camelot flourished under Morgana and Morgause's rule.

Arthur/Gwen, Uther/Ygraine

Arthur and Gwen managed to get married all legitimate-like while Uther still holds the crown - how is up to the anon. Uther tolerates Gwen, but she's not exactly his favorite person. However, he changes his tune after the birth of his granddaughter. Once the baby's old enough to not need the constant presence of Gwen or a wet nurse, Uther is constantly shoving Gwen and Arthur towards their chambers, suggesting that they get started on that boy for the Pendragon heir. Not in a rude way, more in a "Off to bed with you, then, important work to do!" sort of way. It's lovely at first, having sanctioned couple-time, but it's a bit puzzling coming from Uther. One day, Arthur goes to confront his father about the matter, only to see Uther in the nursery being every bit the doting grandfather and telling the little one stories about Igraine.

Camelot era: As Uther Pendragon crosses into the afterlife, he is told that he will be given a second chance, a way to see things from another perspective.

Sunnydale,Ca,2000s: Rupert Giles spends his days in the modern era he lives in, but his dreams return him to a past life, a life now confined to the realm of myth and legend. No one realizes that the man who depends on magic to help protect the world from evil hated it so deeply in the past.

Bonus points for one of the others of the Scooby gang finding out about his past life, and more bonus points for a mention of the crease in Giles' forehead that's in the same place as Uther's scar. There could also be something about Giles/Uther gettin bitter again, after all the things he's seen with magic-Willow going evil,Jenny dying,whatever has happened after the series. You don't have to follow the comics if you prefer not to, it's up to the writer.

Uther's trials didn't end with his death. Though he's breathed his last on the mortal plane of Albion, he still has much to deal with before he moves on.

OP would love to see the following people appear throughout the fic:

- a super-pissed-off Ygraine (because come on, don't you think that she'd be rather angry that Uther went off and started exterminating people in her name?) who gets to slap Uther at least once. She and Uther would have some serious issues to work out
- some of the magic users he's executed or interacted with over the years (ex. Nimueh, Tom and Mary Collins, perhaps the little blond boy from S3E1 who looked eerily how Arthur must have looked as a child, etc)
- Vivianne and Gorlois (Morgana's mother and step-father)
- Tristan de Blois

If you can't fit all of these characters in, that's just fine, but if Ygraine and Gorlois could appear (because they're the two of his closest companions in life that he wronged the most) at the very least, that'd be absolutely great.

In post-Purge Camelot, Gaius visits an old friend, Alice. They used to work together in Uther's household until Alice married and moved to work in a household (or village) closer to her husband, but she still writes to Gaius. During his visit, he reflects

dark!Gaius. I want the Gaius who betrayed the other sorcerers to keep his life. I want the Gaius who drugged Morgana for years rather than tell her the truth. His motivations are up to the author, I just really want to see this side of his character explored.

Everyone in Camelot can see that Merlin is acting far above his station. The way he is so familiar with the prince, calling him by name (and occasionally insulting names). He is well liked by the knights and spends a lot of time with them.

Based on the "Angel" episode 'Lineage'. Morgana and Morgause come into possession of a magical staff that they use to steal Uther's free will and make him their puppet. They watch him from their lair with some kind of scrying. Uther can't even move unless

I really want to see Uther's reaction to Arthur's new cadre of knights, the fact that two people he banished on pain of death still felt enough loyalty to Arthur (*coughs* and/or friendship for Merlin, as we know, but Uther might not) that they came back

It's been a while since Elena's been de-changeling'd. Arthur doesn't have many peers. I'd love to see a epistolary fic of their correspondence and a developing friendship. If you want to do off-letter romance you can have it be any pairing, really. Feel f
