    Online Work
http://comprendia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/iStock_calendar_2011post.jpgIn 2010, employers spent more than $117 million in online work, and hired for more than 620,000 positions, according to the Online Employment: 2010 Review and Future Predictions. While full-time hiring has yet to recover from the recent recession, online contractors allow businesses to stay flexible, scale to meet demand, and tap expertise beyond their in-house staff. Next year, online work will likely double in size, commanding more than $230 million in business spending.

Chapter 1: This book could save your life

Health information can be misleading for many reasons. You cannot always rely on the popular sources of health advice, such as the media, family and friends. Even health professionals are not always well informed about the benefits and harms of tests and treatments. Sometimes new health interventions are introduced before their benefits and harms have been properly established. Conversely, years may pass before tests and treatments of proven benefit become widely used.

Hair has become unequivocally important as it can literally make one look like a movie star or a has been from Hee Haw, which died out many years ago. It is big enough that it is a multi billion dollar industry and the average bill in a salon is approaching $100.

In the big cities with a hot hairstylist like Jonathon in Beverly Hills prices can easily top $500 for a cut and style. Hair and hairstyle are also some of the most searched keywords on Google and the internet.

UNLIKE decades past, women working in corporate America do not wear string ties and buttoned-up collars. Nor do you see many in mid-calf skirts. Yet, the concept of dressing for success is just as pertinent today as it was 10 to 20 years ago, perhaps even more so because the work world is more competitive. The new millennium-working woman must find a way to get ahead of her counterparts--male and female--at other companies, but also within her own place of employment.

Knowledge, skill and the ability to finesse corporate politics are instrumental, but one's image and appearance also continue to be key factors in moving up in corporate America. If you want to achieve success, you must look successful. You must present an image of competence, self-confidence and professionalism.

    STYLE

In the arts — in its pure sense — style refers to that excellence and quality of execution or expression which distinguishes it from all others of similar form. When we talking about style of fashion clothes, it can also refer to the inspired and elegant relation between the requirements of a particular moment in time space and the designer's expression of it in line, color, silhouette, and material translated into an appropriate costume.

Imagine having the ability to turn on the television and change the channel without using a remote control. Or better yet, imagine navigating the internet and sending emails using just the power of your thoughts. Although it may sounds like something out of a science fiction movie, these ideas are becoming a reality. The brain-computer interface is the next technological achievement that blurs the line between science fiction and scientific reality.

I'm not surprised by a new survey showing that the majority of women over 50 who experience vaginal dryness don't feel comfortable talking to their doctors about it. The survey, sponsored by hormone therapy manufacturer Novo Nordisk, finds that 40 percent of post-menopausal women experience dryness and pain but that 7 out of 10 aren't seeking any advice from a gynecologist or family physician.

The prospect of universal health coverage for all Americans is weighing heavily on lawmakers right now. But, if the current proposals pass Congress, Americans may be looking at an even “weightier” problem. New economic research suggests that having health insurance actually makes people fat, and that, in turn, increases health care spending.

A working paper recently published by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) discovered that Americans who have any type of health insurance coverage, either public or private, are more likely to gain weight and be obese. According to the research, Americans with private insurance had increases in body mass index (BMI) of 1.3 points, and those with public insurance had BMI increases of 2.1 points. (Both of these findings were statistically significant.)

"The person spoke in English, apparently trying to change his voice to avoid being recognized, and introduced himself as a go-between," said Vladimir Dushin, vice president of Renaissance Insurance, the company that insured the vessel, the Arctic Sea.

A recording of the August 3 phone call was turned over to Russian special services, which launched an investigation, Dushin said.

The Arctic Sea was located Monday about 480 kilometers (300 miles) from Cape Verde, an island nation a few hundred miles from the coast of western Africa. It had been missing for more than two weeks. The 15-man crew was unharmed.

CHICAGO — Barack Obama, who introduced himself to the nation four years ago as "a skinny kid with a funny name," celebrated his election Tuesday night as the first African American president before a multiracial crowd of 125,000 on the shore of Lake Michigan.

"It belongs to you," Obama told his supporters. "This is your victory."

For Obama, a first-term senator with family connections that span the globe from Kenya to Kansas, it was the dizzying conclusion to an unlikely odyssey that began in the snow of February 2007, when he announced his candidacy near the Illinois statehouse where Abraham Lincoln, the nation's 16th president, served as a legislator.

Sophisticated updos are always a popular choice, with curls and twists providing a desired bridal look, especially for more formal weddings.

This style is best for hair that is medium in length (chin length or longer) and is straight and medium to thick. If you have fine hair you might be able to create the updo by using a pin-on ponytail or add-on extension.

It's sophisticated, chic and almost unfairly glamorous. Get a cocktail dress right - with a touch of sparkle and kitten heels - and you'll own the party. By Lara Zamiatin.

    Hemmed in

At the risk of parroting old-school style gurus such as June Dally-Watkins (circa 1955), The Rules is determined to make one thing patently clear: cocktail dresses must hit just below the knee. While the advice sounds a bit dictatorial, it makes sense. Maxis are for dressed-up luncheon attire and funky minis for late-night partying, but a demure knee-length frock is perfect dusk material. Not too revealing and on the sexy side of prim, knee-length dresses combine elegance with playfulness.
