The K-12 Common Core State Standards for literacy and mathematics were developed through a joint project of the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO).
The standards have been developed to define the knowledge and skills students should have in order to graduate from high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs. They are intended to be clear, rigorous, and to build on the strengths of current state standards, in order to ensure that all students are prepared to succeed in our global society.
The State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards at their July 8, 2010 meeting, committing to a thoughtful, orderly transition process for implementation and assessment to ensure that all New Hampshire students experience a successful and productive future.
