Getting Here: Knoydart Foundation
List of alternative boat hire to Knoydart- the regular ferry guy has now been in touch and says he can't help. If we decide to go with one of the Knoydart options we'll need to contact these folk. May be an added expense (it says possibly ca £60 per crossing).

Add Sticky NoteBruce Watt 'The Western Isles' is our passenger ferry service with 2 sailings a day; leave 10.15 in the morning, and 2.15 in the afternoon. During winter, the ferry runs 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and 5 days a week during summer (Monday through to Friday). Please contact Bruce Watt direct on 01687 462320 to confirm times, costs and summer timetable. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes although check return times as the ferry often returns via Tarbet, which means a longer journey.

Another nice one on Knoydart, but again we might not be able to get the ferry depending on dates.

This could be really adventurous but great to really get away from it all! This island is a bird sanctuary. One guesthouse on all the island, no shops!

Add Sticky NoteYour adventure starts at Mallaig - cars are only allowed on Canna by permit from the National Trust for scotland! Mallaig is well serviced by both bus and rail so leaving your car at home is a viable option.

The Cnoc na Faire, Arisaig on the Road to the Isles
This place is really lovely but quite hard to get to from Arisaig station- wanted to bookmark it anyway since Caroline and I had several nice meals there.

The Old Library Lodge and Restaurant, Arisaig, West Highlands of Scotland
This one's in Arisaig but they are fab- the restaurant is amazing (Caroline & I went there).

Western Isles Guest House
This place has 4 five-star reviews (and no negative ones) on TripAdvisor. I think it's the same people who run the ferry to Knoydart so I haven't emailed them again (yet). They say "special diets catered for" which is promising. £32 per person B&B per night, room is en suite- excellent!

Isle of Muck, The Road to the Isles and Small Isles in the Scottish Highlands
Thinking of the hotel which provides all meals! Have emailed about availability. Like Knoydart, the ferries don't go on the right days as far as I can tell.

Glebe Barn self catering Accommodation, Eigg Scotland
Just an idea: lovely Eigg without much on it except beauty and history. Have emailed re availability- looks like we could get a twin room for £22/night each.

Knoydart : The Gathering B&B, Inverie, Knoydart
Looks awesome. Requires a hired boat to Knoydart though. But please go explore the website- we could just go there and stay in the house all day!

The Knoydart ferry from Mallaig to Knoydart. Have emailed them asking about availability on our dates as they don't normally sail then.
