Give free rice to hungry people by playing a simple word game. This would be a fun activity for intermediate and high school students. if the words are too difficult for students, they can start back at level 1 with words like "penny" and "pony". You can also change the subject at the top of the screen to practice grammar, geography, time tables, and other skills. Warning...it's completely addictive.
This is a fun interactive map game that would work well on the SMARTBoard. Choices are learning the continents, countries, states or provinces. Sometimes you make mistakes because the targeting mechanism is not in the right place, but in general this is a very good series of games.
Instructions for teachers and examples of virtual field trips.
Excellent site. A little visually confusing at first, but has great lessons and cool games. Coolmath has a ton of cool math games and puzzles, lots of really clear math lessons (arithmetic, fractions, decimals, algebra, etc.), fractals, geometry, tessellations and more. Tons of very cool math stuff for kids, teens, parents and teachers too!
Too fun and very addictive. Wait for the small ad to finish, then click Play and then Play again to get into the game. The object is to advance a small red ball along a course to capture a flag. Uses basic shapes, hinges, and pins. Objects behave the way they would in the real world, so they are subject to gravity. After you've tried a few of the more difficult levels, search for Magic Pen on YouTube and prepare to be amazed at some of the ingeneous solutions. I am sad to report that it isn't very easy to use on the SMARTBoard.
This is a great interactive pumpin carving site that would look amazing on a SMARTBoard.
Free online versions of 4 Edmark series educational software classics for kids (K-3): Bailey's Bookhouse, Milly's Math House, Sammy's Science House, and Trudy's Time and Place House.

Decorate your own online Christmas tree by using your mouse to place ornaments, lights and more on your tree.

Video showing 9 scenes designed to inspire create writing.
Phenomenal set of lessons which use Google Earth to teach real world math. There are several lessons under each of 4 main topics: concepts, measurement, project-based learning, and exploratory. The author provides a screenshot, objectives and description of the lesson with a downloadable .kmz file and downloadable .doc worksheet. Probably more suitable for middle school or high school. If the Lessons link doesn't work from the main page, go to the resources page and click on lessons.
Shows how elementary schools in different countries are connecting via Skype and Webcam on their SMARTBoards. Includes a tutorial.
Make very cool animated movies just by typing. Be careful to turn off the ability of others to comment as some problems have been reported by team members.
Virtual World for kids 13-18 like Second Life with an emphasis on writing and literature. Tour virtual homes and chat with Shakespeare and Galileo. More historical figures planned. Site does not elicit any personal info from students.
Unbelievably good video with rap. The Week in Rap provides a weekly summary of current events in a hip-hop music video for teens and students. If you're bothered by the mostly American content, issue a challenge to your students to create the Canadian version. Recommended by Kelly Tenkley at iLearn Technology.
A great online version of "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader" recommended by James Hollis at Teachers Love Smartboards. Really fun to play with excellent graphics.
