OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.
Online Office Suites
programs that allow you to create docs, spreadsheets, presentations etc. online and share them.
ThinkFree is an online office Suite like Google Doc that supports and creates office files (documents, spreadsheets and presentations). Unlike Google Docs ThinkFree does have graphing capability in the spreadsheet, is limited to basic line area and series plots. No true X-Y scatter. If you need excel-like capability go with OpenOffice.
Google Docs is a hosted service where you can create, store and share documents, spreadsheets and presentations and online forms You can work on your own or collaboratively. You can also import docs from MS Office and Open Office. Google Docs does not have graphing capability.
Zoho offers a suite of online web applications geared towards increasing your productivity and offering easy collaboration. Zoho's online office tools include mail, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation etc. Best and fastest web 2.0 spreadsheet (with graphing) I've found so far.
Web 2.0 Graphing Software
Simple and easy to using graphing software that allows you to create pie diagrams, scatter and line plots, histographs, etc. Suprisingly easy to use. The major limitation is that you cannot adjust the length of your axes--plots are square.
You use the wikiCalc program with a browser, like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. The construction and editing of the spreadsheet looks similar to (but definitely is not the same as) using a traditional desktop spreadsheet like Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, or OpenOffice.org Calc. Instead of interacting directly with the program on your personal computer, as you would with a traditional desktop spreadsheet, you use your browser to interact with a web server that is connected to a running copy of the wikiCalc program.
