Edomodo: Think classroom blogging that is private! Set up your class to share links, videos, assign class work, and see due dates on the calendar. All blogs can be controlled and seen be the teacher. Possibilities are endless and include polls, short assignments that everyone can respond to on the computer, or word documents that can be uploaded and only read by the teacher and graded right on the site.
Digital Storytelling: Pixie software makes it easy to develop online storybooks, and videos. This is easy enough for kindergarten children to use to design their own movies! First, design your own digital picture using already loaded clip art, paint and stamps. Next, add text, your own voice recording and pre-loaded background music. Last, import yourself on to the picture and add animation.
Free Innovative Science Resources: CyberTEAM students from Cal State University San Marcos have developed Earth system games and activities for 6th. grade classrooms that are wonderful, but way over my head! One example is an activity where you can make your own rollercoaster by controlling the weight, friction, angle and speed of your car and track.
Thinkfinity: Endless lesson plans, interactives, multimedia that you can search for thanks to many who have partnered with Verizon. I love this site!\nSandy
5. Communicating Globally: Email that goes through the teacher and connects the class to children all over the world. This is a protected site where teachers can hook up with other classrooms for project-based learning activities. Children can read the same books and then share their thoughts with classrooms in over 200 countries
6. World Book Web: $256 a year for the entire school. Endless topics to search for real facts using safe sites for children to access for research at home or at school. I love this for the kindergarten classroom! 1. HyperStudio 5: Multimedia Class Projects Have Never Been this much Fun
HyperStudio is an older program that came out many years ago. It was an easy way for students to create animation and presentations in a fun and creative way. The creator lives in San Diego. It is now back and could be a great program for the lower grades. I have two 30 day trial disks if anyone wants to try it.

This presentation had about 13 free websites that are really interesting and fun. They don’t necessarily apply to the classroom, but are great for anyone looking for ideas on The World and Things Around Us, Tools for Creativity and Organization. Take a look. He also has the last 4 years of websites on the bottom of the page for this year. I haven’t looked at them, but they are all interesting and free.
