John Abbott, the president of this organization, wrote "Constructing
Learning,
Reconstructing Schooling" for the November EL. According to Abbott,
"inquisitiveness is what drives children's learning, and constructivism is
the
theory that cognitive scientists have devised to explain how an individual
progresses from inquisitiveness to new knowledge." We learn best by being
motivated to find out things, to do things, to discover things. The "21st
Century" Web site includes lots of resources--including whole books--on
constructivism.

All about multiple intelligences, active learning, constructivism, and
more--how
do we best help children learn? David Perkins, whose EL article, "The Many
Faces
of Constructivism," examines a day at the mythical Constructivist High
School,
is the Co-Director of Project Zero; Howard Gardner, interviewed by Marge
Scherer
in the November EL, is the other Co-Director. Go to Project Zero for
