"Graph functions, plot tables of data, evaluate equations, explore transformations, and much more – for free!"
" A glossary of mathematics terms can be a helpful aid to students who struggle with the vocabulary of mathematics. When I was a middle school and high school student the vocabulary of math often tripped me up and having a glossary of terms often helped me be able to complete my homework assignments. Here are five mathematics glossaries that students can access online. "
At Desmos, we let all of the devices in the classroom work together – from Interactive Whiteboards, to laptops and tablets, to smartphones. With our software, anyone can build rich content that plays in any browser, on any device.
" iPad apps that college students have developed soon could help high school and middle school students crack the code of algebra, often a gatekeeper to college entry."
" A searchable database of students' algebraic thinking and misconceptions
Over 800 studies research and discuss students’ struggles in algebra and potential strategies to help students overcome conceptual obstacles. Here we distill those articles into encyclopedia entries for teachers to use. This Encyclopedia is part of the Center for Algebraic Thinking. Here you will find entries based on five domains and linked to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Each entry in the encyclopedia contains answers to the below questions when available from the research. You can search by the five domains below, Common Core State Standard, Learning Progression, or by keyword. An advanced search allows you to search the entire Center site, including the Encyclopedia, Formative Assessments, and Technologies. At the end of each entry is an opportunity for you to include your experience with students' thinking on that topic. Please add your experience!"
"Please select any of the links below to discover how FlexMath can make teaching effortless, learning joyful, and Algebra proficiency a reality for every student."
"Wolfram has long been a trusted name in education—as the makers of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha, and the Wolfram Demonstrations Project, we've created some of the most dynamic teaching and learning tools available. We are pleased to offer the best of all of our technologies to you here in the Wolfram Education Portal, organized by course. In the portal you'll find a dynamic textbook, lesson plans, widgets, interactive Demonstrations, and more built by Wolfram education experts. You can take a look at the types of materials we offer below, but to get full access to all materials, you need to sign up for a free account."
Interactives provides students with strategies, content, and activities that can enhance and improve students' skills in math and a variety of other curricular areas.
Click on your grade level, Mathematics and Students to find a list of all mathematics activities. You can also use the search box at the top of the page.
"eModules are interactive online units that target objectives identified as important in state and national standards, include lesson plans, contain interactive online activities, and provide online assessments. Each eModule is intended to cover between one and three class periods of instruction."
The goals of this project are to connect math with real world careers, introduce students to more advanced mathematical ideas, and provide additional opportunities to apply math concepts they have already learned.
To get started click on Explore the Math button at the bottom of the page. On the next page you will choose your character. Use the right and left arrow keys to navigate the "road." When you come to a building that you want to investigate, click on it.
This site was developed to help middle school students in math and science by using interactive games. Once you choose your character, make sure you create an account. Make sure you use your Spacknet Mail account for your email. Use the same username (first initial, last name + spac) and password (digits + spac) that you use for other programs in school. Enjoy!
"Thinking Blocks is a suite of learning tools designed to help students solve math word problems accurately and efficiently. Using brightly colored blocks, students model mathematical relationships and identify known and unknown quantities. The model provides students with a powerful image that organizes information and simplifies the problem solving process. By modeling increasingly complex word problems, students develop strong reasoning skills which will facilitate the transition from arithmetic to algebra.
Thinking Blocks Supports the Common Core State Standards"
To get started click on one of the colored blocks at the top of the page: Addition, Multiplication, Fractions, Ratios or Modeling Tool. Choose your model and then watch the video to understand how to solve that type of problem. You can also choose your range of numbers. After you have watched the video click on Begin to work some problems on your own.
The Math Live! was developed by the staff/contractors from Alberta Education and consultants/teachers from Edmonton Catholic Schools.
"Math games make learning Math fun. When we're having fun, we're more open to learning. When we're having fun, we want to keep doing whatever we're doing. "
"XP Math features fun and educational math games for Grades 5-9. Mental mathematics is a component of the Common Core Mathematical Practices and XP Math Games makes it easy to support it."
You can register for free at this site by clicking on the blue Register FREE! button in the top right hand corner. You can choose games by topic: Number & Operations, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, and Data Analysis & Probability. When you click on a subject area you will see a list of sub topics to choose from. Or you can choose a grade level on the bottom half of the page and choose your activity by Common Core standard.
" Middle School Math: 6th Grade Math and 7th Grade Math "
"This is a long webpage, listing lots of geometry resources. I have grouped them by the subtopics in geometry, so please see the following list. Each topic has resources that fit many grade levels."
"Middle school math tools, math activities and math fun for kids and their teachers"
Divided by topic. Includes links to puzzles & games, and free worksheets.
"Free Brainingcamp Middle School Math Activities"
Some of these activities have also been produced as iPad apps
This site has hundreds of interactive math activities that can be searched by topic and grade level. There is a dictionary of math words and a set of tools you can use. The guide to understand how to use Interactivate can be found here: http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/guide/
