Over 800 studies research and discuss students’ struggles in algebra and potential strategies to help students overcome conceptual obstacles. Here we distill those articles into encyclopedia entries for teachers to use. This Encyclopedia is part of the Center for Algebraic Thinking. Here you will find entries based on five domains and linked to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Each entry in the encyclopedia contains answers to the below questions when available from the research. "eModules are interactive online units that target objectives identified as important in state and national standards, include lesson plans, contain interactive online activities, and provide online assessments. Each eModule is intended to cover between one and three class periods of instruction."

The goals of this project are to connect math with real world careers, introduce students to more advanced mathematical ideas, and provide additional opportunities to apply math concepts they have already learned.

This site was developed to help middle school students in math and science by using interactive games. Once you choose your character, make sure you create an account. Make sure you use your Spacknet Mail account for your email. Use the same username (first initial, last name + spac) and password (digits + spac) that you use for other programs in school. Enjoy!

To get started click on one of the colored blocks at the top of the page: Addition, Multiplication, Fractions, Ratios or Modeling Tool. Choose your model and then watch the video to understand how to solve that type of problem. You can also choose your range of numbers. After you have watched the video click on Begin to work some problems on your own.

Or you can choose a grade level on the bottom half of the page and choose your activity by Common Core standard.
