Kaitlin Armstrong's List: 5 Disliked Websites

  • Jan 10, 09

The website has a lot to offer, however, I dislike the structure. It is not organized by grade level, so sometimes it can be hard to find exactly what you are looking for. That is not to say it does not have a lot of great resources, they are just sometimes hard to locate. If i were to change this sit to improve it, I would organize it by grade level.

Good website if you have the money. However, I found that sometimes it says things are free and they aren't, have to be careful. I found some great ideas but then when you think you are getting something free it asks for your credit card. I also found that when you print things out they don't always look like what was on the website. I am not saying this is a bad web site, because if you have a member you have access to everything. If you aren't a member, I don't suggest using the site because you won't get much out of it. I have also talked to people that are members are they weren't satisfied.

    • As low as $20.00/year (
      • Does that mean it is not exactly $20 a month?

This site has good, free stories to listen to online. However, the text does not appear on the screen. I like the students to be able to see what they are reading, not just listen to it. The site does not meet the needs of all learners. If I were to change it, I would make sure that the text appears so the child can see it.

This websites has a lot of links. You click on something and it just takes you to another link. This is not a good website to use when you want fast results or you want to get information quickly. If I were to change this site I would take away all of the link to links and add more information.

EdHelper is a website designed for teachers. You can pay a basic fee for $20 or the everything subscription for $40. I subscribed to it my first year and was not satisfied. The materials were not very professional looking, they looked liked they were thrown together in minutes. A lot of the materials are not kid friendly. For example, I printed off 1st grade worksheets and the lines for the students to write on were very tiny. My students struggled to fill in the answers. In 1st grade their handwriting is not fully developed and they write rather large. Some may enjoy the website but I think you could spend your money on a better designed website that offers more. Also, if you are not satisfied with the subscription, you can’t get out it. I would make a trial period for my audience so if they wanted a refund, they could maybe get it back in full or maybe in half.
