Hi, i need to convert a dvd into an avi file so that i can edit it in premier. Im having difficulty importing it into premier as suposidly i need it to be a type 2 avi file.
How do i convert a dvd into a type 2 avi file?
Thanks -
Load the AVI into VirtualDUBMod (and ignore any Audio VBR allerts), set Video to Direct Stream copy, then Save As. It will now be a Type 2 avi.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

or editing with Premiere, DV-AVI Type 2 is the gold standard (I believe)

There is a limit of 32 links on a 4:3 menu, and 16 ( or 18 ) on a widescreen (16:9) menu. This is a DVD spec limitation, not an Encore limitation.

Use DV-AVI, not direct show (if you want smaller file size).
If you don't want to use the default Canopus Format(obvious, since PPro didn't like it), click on Config, and choose the Microsoft DV Codec to replace the Canopus Codec. The drop-down lists the configured system codecs, so there may be other entries.
