There are a number of rules which apply to qualifications making up additional and specialist learning. These are as follows:
· Qualifications achieved as part of additional and specialist learning must be at the level of the Diploma or above.
· Qualifications that vary in level according to the grade achieved (for example GCSEs) must be achieved at an appropriate level in order to contribute towards a Diploma award.
· Some qualifications in additional and specialist learning are suitable for post-16 learners only. View qualification details for information on age ranges.
· Guided learning hours (glh) are the number of hours of teacher-supervised or directed study time required to teach a qualification. A learner must achieve any valid combination of qualifications from additional and/or specialist learning that equal or exceed 180 guided learning hours in total.
· Qualifications with the same barring classification code cannot be used to count towards the required 120 guided learning hours.
