This book is my secret weapon for surviving an invasion of relatives. They hire a car, you buy them Real Tenerife Island Drives and off they go. Magic. The book is also highly entertaining and stuffed with little hidden gems that you would have no way to find on your own as a tourist on the island.

As well as Spain-s second oldest golf course, the venerable, Real Club de Golf, the island has several fine championship courses including those at Golf Del Sur, Amarilla Bay, Golf Las Americas, Costa Adeje and the newer Abama course. Buenavista is further away but perched right on the northern tip and with the mountains as a dramatic backdrop it also is well worth a visit.

While there are some good camera shops in Tenerife, there are a lot of cowboys. The most frustrating thing for tourists who have been ripped off in Tenerife is finding some real help in dealing with their problem.

Despite an unhelpful conversation with the Tourist Office in Tenerife which made it clear that they had no interest in helping ripped off tourists, there are quite a few helpful resources that exist to help those that have been the victim of unfair commercial practise.
