Jason H's List: Evolution and Creation

  • Nov 17, 09

Some people attempt to discredit the Bible by looking for anything in the Scriptures that appears to be wrong or contradictory. Most of these attempts are made by doing a surface level investigation. When a thorough analysis is done (historical, language, full context of the verse or verses, etc.) no one has ever succeeded in finding any contradictions in the Bible.
If we apply this same rule (finding contradictions and scientific errors) to the model of evolution can it hold up? If we were to find any contradictions in evolution should we also abandon it as a valid model? We need to apply the rules fairly to both models (creation and evolution). For example, the model of evolution appears to violate many known scientific laws.

    1. Evolution cannot explain where the original matter came from. In doing so evolution violates the First Law of Thermodynamics.
    2. Evolution violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics
    3. Evolution violates the Law of Cause and Effect (what caused the original matter to suddenly expand – the big bang explosion?)
    4. The fossil record is contrary to what evolution predicts. Where are the many, many intermediates?
    5. Evolution cannot explain how life originated. Scientific research (biology, chemistry, physics, and probability) has repeatedly shown that it is not possible by any known scientific means.
    6. Evolution has no known mechanism to support how one species changed into another species (macro-evolution). Natural selection only operates with existing information and has never been shown to add new information, which is required for macroevolution. No one has ever demonstrated a positive mutation that added information to the DNA.

Attempts have been made to explain the above violations using evolution (materialistic mechanisms), however, all have failed. If we apply the same rules (finding contradictions), then evolution should be abandoned as a viable model. In all the scientific journals, books, and research articles, I have yet to see any of the above scientifically

      • There are two explanations for what we read in Genesis 2:19 about these creatures.

        1. The verb “formed” can mean “had formed” (see Genesis 2:8). This would indicate that God had already formed these creatures as stated in Genesis chapter 1 and was just bringing them to Adam to name.
        2.
        3. God could have made (formed) these creatures (birds and non-domesticated animals) in front of Adam rather than bring the ones He had already created on day 6 (Genesis 1:25). This would allow Adam to witness God’s creative powers. This creative act would not be a contradiction to the order in chapter 1, which states that God created the birds on day 5 and all the beast of the earth on day 6 (“chay” or non-domesticated beast). He just specially forms more of these these creatures in front of Adam so he can name them.
    • We all might quickly say-He made "light". But actually God made "day" and "night"! God used light to create day and night.
