Experiments to use in classroom
these are experiments and activities that students in elementary school should find interesting.
An experiment with alien characters in which lefties tended to select the aliens on the left hand side as best while righties selected those on the right side. A very nice experiment for children to replicate.
A set of experiments that can be done by children to determine right side or left side for hands,ears,eyes, and legs. It is a good base for ideas. Students could easily make up their own.
Movies and Interactive Activities
Simple movies and some interactive activities that deal with probability.
A movie explaining bar charts and tallies as a way to interpret information. My only complaint is that the bars are attached,
A movie of basic probability. Pleasant and simple to understand.
A Game that allows you to select objects based on the likeliness of picking them from a group. Very nice idea for younger students.
There are short movies about different issues in probability for students above third grade. You can also find movies about Data Analysis

This web-site has John Paulos commentaries on the news in relation to number sense and logic and level of misleading information. It is current, yet also goes back in time.
This article talks about how we are often afraid of things out of proportion to their likelihood of occurring. The media is complicit in this by showing events over and over making them to appear to occur more often.
An article about the probability of events. It is interesting ot see what we are afraid of as compared to what we should be afraid of.
A description of a survey done by a 10 year old girl to convince her parents she deserved a raise in her allowance.

Tools that enhance your ability to do statistics.
This tool allows you to generate random numbers in group sizes of your choosing, using the range of numbers you choose. It is a handy tool for simulating experiments.
The free trial lasts for 60 days. There are many,many good problems for your classes, with great explanations. Look at it on-line and if you wish do a free trial. If it looks good maybe your school can get a license for a computer lab.
