Зато арабы считают, что день провозглашения еврейского государства стал днем катастрофы для арабского народа, и отмечают в этот день Накбу (катастрофу).

Vor kurzem stellten Taub und Abu Saida ihre bisherige Arbeit den Delegationsleitern Livni und Qrea vor. Sie seien sich einig, dass etwas gegen die Aufhetzung in Lehrbüchern unternommen werden müsse. Ein Vorschlag, der diskutiert wird, sieht vor, dass Experten von beiden Seiten unabhängig die Schulbücher der jeweils anderen Seite untersuchen sollen. Denkbar wäre es jedoch auch, dass ein Expertenteam gemeinsam die Merkmale für die Untersuchung des Lehrmaterials definiert. Anschliessend würde ein gemischtes Team die Bücher parallel überprüfen.

Кнессет принял во втором и третьем чтениях законопроект, в соответствии с которым администрации школ не смогут заменять учебники на другие подобные издания в течение пяти лет. Таким образом, родители смогут сэкономить деньги и приберечь купленные для старших детей учебники младшим. По мнению законодателей, семьи смогут сэкономить несколько сотен шекелей в год.

Quite frequently some columnist or pundit will claim that the Palestinian education system is (at least in part) to blame for the continued violence. Sometimes the claim is that religious texts are used to teach Palestinian children to hate Jews, and sometimes it is claimed that Palestinian textbooks incite hatred of Israel. These claims are popular features of many analyses, presumably because they offer an explanation for Palestinian hostility to people who do not or will not acknowledge the horrors of the occupation.

He [Dajani] is also creating a new textbook for kindergartens in the West Bank and east Jerusalem. He is currently meeting with teachers to try to persuade them to adopt the new textbook in their classrooms. "The current system and the current books that they use espouse a philosophy that supports Hamas. It is a philosophy which supports a jihadist approach," he says.

Ein Team israelischer und palästinensischer Lehrer verfasste das Schulbuch, das sich an 15- bis 16-jährige Schüler richtet. Das Georg-Eckert-Institut für internationale Schulbuchforschung (GEI) in Braunschweig ist seit 2001 als Kooperationspartner an dem Projekt beteiligt, finanziell unterstützt wird es von verschiedenen amerikanischen Stiftungen sowie der Europäischen Union. Das GEI berät die Projektteilnehmer bei der Konzipierung der Schulbücher und organisiert einmal jährlich einen Workshop.
