Question Everything: Where my questions have led me
-
he only long-term cure for the disease is for the human race to get wise. Since there is a biological basis for wisdom, sapience, this means increasing, through an evolutionary process, the brain capacity for sapience. That is, the solution to the problem is the same one that has always been operative in this world. The system must evolve. If humans are to be a part of that process, if there are to be a species of humans in the distant future of this planet, then this current species has to evolve into a new species with a better brain. We don't need more intelligence or creativity. We already have lots of that. We need better judgment. We need more wisdom.

Question Everything
Two sapient things need to happen (though, having concluded that we are not very sapient, they probably wont.) The first is that the governance body has to identify and breakdown all regenerative work, things like building a national electrified train system, building a smart grid, turning to organic permaculture, etc. They need to determine categories of work based on how our energy use and production will be improved. They then need to work with managers who are willing to shift their skills to managing these sorts of projects. This will, no doubt, require considerable training, especially on the goals of energy management. Then these non-capitalistic organizations can hire labor and with rational financing begin to regenerate those aspects of the infrastructure needed for a future society.
The second thing that needs to happen is that our education system has to make a tremendous shift to help educate everyone about the energy-based economy.-
My long-term optimistic view — that humanity will evolve into a eusapient species — is what has motivated me to think about what we should be doing now.

Abandon hope: Live sustainably just because it's the right thing to do
-
That means equating sustainable living not with hope for a better future, but with basic virtues such as sharing and caring, virtues that we recognize as good in themselves and fundamentally the right way to live in the present, they explain.
-
It also clarifies the connection between environmental and social problems, a connection many people fail to grasp.
