There is ample information on both solar and lunar eclipses and the phases of the moon. Some links provide information in Spanish, and some offer tutorials for novice learners. Some of the information may be too technical for middle school students, but there is enough grade-level appropriate information that makes this directory worthy of exploration.

    This site is maintained for a non-profit group of professional and amateur astronomers in Northern California. The resources for “moon” are divided into web sites, books and articles. The books and articles are not available as online resources, but the motivated student could find these resources in the public library. The seven “Selected web sites” categories give the student-researcher multiple directories to expand their knowledge of the moon. These directories include webcasts, educational activities to enhance learning about the moon, and how to find the phases of the moon.

Topics include phases of the moon, tides, seasons, geology of the moon, etc. There are links to other similar topics such as the Solar System, eclipses, and astronauts within the same site. The presentations are not arranged according to grade level, so the student searcher may have to preview the slide shows to find those that are grade-level appropriate.
