Collaborating with Other Organizations and Universities
Below are resources that you can use to help promote interactivity, enhance instruction, and build learning communities with your class, other organizations, and universities.
MERLOT is a searchable collection of peer-reviewed online learning materials created by its users. As stated at their Web site, MERLOT's vision is to be a premiere online community where faculty, staff, and students from around the world share their learning materials and pedagogy. Anyone can search the site for materials; however, those people who become members have the ability to contact the creators of materials directly as well as upload materials to the site. The MERLOT site is a good place to collaborate with people from other institutions. We encourage you to take a look at the site and search for materials in your discipline and, if you have the time, look over other disciplines and/or areas of personal interest.
Begin your exploration of Merlot, by focusing on the following areas:
1. Browse the Collection
2. Visit a Discipline Community
3. Exploring Merlot
MIT OCW is a free Web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. An introductory video about this resource can be found here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tbQ-FeoEvTI .
Digital Content or e-Packs consist of publisher-created digital content that is ready to use in your Webcourses@UCF account. An e-Pack may include learning materials, multimedia elements, and assessments. The quality and the features of e-Packs varies tremendously.
Please e-mail your instructional designer if you find an e-Pack you would like to view. We can upload the e-Pack to a Webcourses@UCF practice account for your review. There is no cost for a faculty member to view an e-Pack. If you decide to use one, your students may be charged an access fee. The fee charged to students varies and is generally part of a bundled textbook product.
Search the ePacks area for possible ePacks in your discipline.
Flat World Knowledge, a free, open source textbook publisher, has announced plans to add support for direct integration of its books into campus learning management systems (LMS) like Blackboard and ANGEL. With Flat World's LMS-supported textbooks, professors and publishers will be able to include supplementary material content in its entirety available directly on the platform and split up chapters into various folders according to their syllabus.

Questions have arisen about Wikipedia's accuracy; Henry Jenkins from MIT discussed its uses and validity at the 2008 Annual Meeting for Educause Learning Initiative. Interacting with Students

There are three primary areas in which students engage: Student to Student, Faculty to Student, and Student to Content.
