Eureka Stockade, a conflict that arose because of the increasing tension in the Eureka gold fieal over the harsh mining licenses that all miners had to pay regardless of wether or not they found gold, along with various other things. Describes the escalation and the conflict.

An article about the Eureka rebellion in 1854 more commonly known as the Eureka Stockade. This conflict was caused by the opposition of the harsh mining licenses that were compulsory on the gold fields. contains information about the stockades affect on our culture today.

The Eureka Stockade occured because of the licenses that had to be paid. A lot of the police and gaurds on the gold fields were unsatisfactory because they were ex convicts. The licenses were 30 shillings and they had to be paid each month.

Has the story of Eureka and information about the goldrushes aswell. tens of thousands of people came to dig for gold. Eureka was one of these goldfields. tensions had been rising for a long time before the stockade over the mining licenses and the unfairness and brutality of the police and guards.
