The land and its seasons, the cycles of life, the enduring bonds of community - these are the themes of Jaiya's music. Jaiya is a Sanskrit word meaning both "life," and "triumph." Jaiya's songs remind us that we are creatures of earth. Our hearts beat to the rhythms of nature. Our bodies ebb and flow with the same tides that mark the hours and seasons. What we all share as dwellers on this sweet, fragile planet far outweighs our differences.
The members of Jaiya live on a small island off the coast of British Columbia where deer, otter, seals, orcas, bald eagles, and many other species of wildlife still thrive. Miranda Brown, Kim Darwin and Lael Whitehead are multi-instrumentalists who collaborate on writing and arranging their original music.
They weave stirring female vocal harmonies with harp, piano, accordion, guitar, flutes, and percussion. Their poetry invites listeners to come back home: to be here, now, on this living, breathing earth we all share. -
Sharing the belief that there is a growing world wide interest in spirituality, which is creating a new spiritual awareness and culture that will flourish in the new millennium.

The images were drawn by artist Pamela Colman Smith, to the instructions of academic and mystic A. E. Waite, and published by the Rider Company. While the images are deceptively simple, almost child-like, the details and backgrounds hold a wealth of symbolism. The subjects remain close to the earliest decks, but usually have added details. Significantly, Waite had the Christian imagery of older tarot decks' cards toned down—the "Pope" card became the "Hierophant," the "Popess" became the "High Priestess." The minor arcana are also, like the earlier Sola Busca Tarot, fully illustrated with designs created by Pamela Colman Smith.
