Helpful post by Owen on three case studies at the Beyond the RAE event. So timely given I first encountered all of this only this morning and am wondering how it fits in with our repository. These three case studies seem to indicate: a) this is complicated and requires input and management from across several sections of the uni b) there are three potential approaches 1) create a custom solution 2) purchase and integrate specialist research publication/management package and build into your repository 3) built out of your repository and the IRRA project under the JISC Digital Repositories programme 2005-7 looked at doing just this for eprints and dspace. Not sure where these modules have gone since then though, if they are still maintained, how much customisation they require. Not even relevant if we are not going to use either for our repository... We would essentially have to replicate this functionality.
Useful set of core requirements when thinking about institutional repositories. Our current institutional repository (currently an open access/eprints repository not a full institutional repository) doesn't currently meet several of these requirements with the current design, but I imagine they could within the Equella framework.
