Interested to know here if the e-learning repositories are going to be obsolete before plateau where will lecture capture and retrieval be stored, indexed and retrieved from ... guess it comes back to the debate over what is a repository???

Names. As search and citation in electronic environments become more important it is interesting to see the focus on consistent names, or author identifiers, emerge more strongly. Authors, institutions, publishers and others have an interest here, as inconsistent naming reduces impact. The authors note various initiatives, including some of our work. National libraries have so far not broadened the scope of their authority work beyond the 'cataloged' collection, something that I discuss here. We are now in a phase where multiple organizations are looking at academic author identification and profiling.

Institutional Repository Checklist for Serving Institutional Management - OR08 Publications
Useful set of core requirements when thinking about institutional repositories. Our current institutional repository (currently an open access/eprints repository not a full institutional repository) doesn't currently meet several of these requirements with the current design, but I imagine they could within the Equella framework.
