COTABATO, Philippines - Two suspects in the killing of a Roman Catholic bishop in the southern Philippines surrendered to police today but denied involvement in the death.

Police said a man and his son, 18, were in custody and another son, a Muslim rebel, was expected to surrender.

All three denied involvement in the slaying of Bishop Benjamin de Jesus, 56, who was shot six times Tuesday outside Mount Carmel Cathedral in Jolo, a Muslim-dominated area in Sulu province.

Police said they believe the murder was in retaliation for the arrest of another brother in the family, a member of the Abu Sayyaf rebel group.
