ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Army troops overran an Abu Sayyaf satellite camp in Bud Kapok, Indanan, Sulu, the military announced on Tuesday.

Task Force Comet chief Brigadier General Alexander Aleo said the camp could accommodate up to 100 people. It was not clear when the camp was overrun.

He said military operations against the Abu Sayyaf and followers of Moro National Liberation Front leader Nur Misuari are being hampered by heavy rains. Sporadic clashes between the groups and the military have been ongoing since the weekend. At least four soldiers have been killed and up to 20 Abu Sayyaf members are believed to have died in the fighting.

Meanwhile, US troops currently in Sulu for a humanitarian mission will not pull out despite the clashes.
