September 24, 2009, GMA News, 10:03 PM, DOJ orders creation of Task Force Bentain, 

Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera on Thursday ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to create a task force that would continue the agency's probe into the alleged abduction and possible murder of Edgar Bentain 10 years ago.

In a press conference, Devanadera said the creation of Task Force Bentain stemmed from the letter sent to her by Bentain's brother Edcel, which asked the DOJ to summon Sen. Panfilo Lacson to shed light on the kidnapping.

“We want an open investigation. With new bits of information from Sen. Lacson – although there still is no witness – the case of Mr. Bentain transformed from missing person to a possible crime committed," she said in a press briefing.

Devanadera however did not say if Lacson would be summoned by the agency.

Before the press conference, Devanadera held a closed-door meeting with Edcel and another Bentain brother, Eddie.
