November 22, 2012, InterAksyon, ASG bandit who beheaded plantation workers nabbed in Basilan,

MANILA, Philippines - A member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) tagged as part of a unit that beheaded a couple of workers of the Golden Harvest Plantation in 2001 was arrested Thursday morning in Barangay Port Area, Isabela City, Basilan.

Capt. Alberto Caber, spokesman of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, said alias Abu Jaid or Ajing was cornered by joint elements of the police and military at his safe house.

“Ajing was involved in the 2001 kidnapping and the beheading of two workers of the Golden Harvest Plantation in Barangay Talairan, Lantawan, Basilan. He was among those bandits charged with kidnapping and murder,” Caber said.

The bandit was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the 9th Judicial Region Branch 1 Judge Leo Jay T. Principi.

He was brought to Zamboanga City for proper disposition.
