Sorsogon City: Army troopers captured a New People's Army (NPA) leader during a two-minute firefight in Barangay San Francisco in Juban town, Sorsogon.

Lt-Col Romeo Cabatic, Second Infantry Battalion commander based in Juban, said soldiers of Bravo Company clashed with some five communist rebels in Sitio Liman Sunday [11 August] afternoon.

Captured during the clash was a certain Arnel Estiller, aka Ramsey, leader of Kilusan sa Platon II of Guerrilla Front 68. His other companions escaped towards the adjacent barangay [village].

Cabatic said barangay residents in the area who are mostly poor farmers tipped off the authorities on the rebel's revolutionary taxation.

Recovered from Estiller was 8,700 pesos in cash from their recent collection, including a .45 cal. pistol ammunition and propaganda materials.
