The brother of Abu Sayyaf bandit commander Mujib Susukan was slain in a clash with government troops in Parang, Sulu, the military yesterday confirmed. Armed Forces of the Philippines, Public Information Office chief Lt. Col. Daniel Lucero identified the slain bandit as one Muhajahid Susukan, believed to be the to be youngest brother and one of the security detail of the rebel leader, who was also killed in a firefight with troops in June last year. Soldiers from the 104th Infantry Brigade were conducting combat operations in the vicinity of Hill 300, Karawan Complex in the town at around 10:30 a.m Friday when they encountered the bandit, with an undetermined number of armed companions. A fierce firefight erupted between the two groups. Military reports said that Muhajahid was hit by artillery fires during the exchange after which his companions quickly fled the scene. There were no reported casualties on the government side.
