Kidnapped Wichita Couple Gets Letter To Family

Family members heard Monday from a Wichita couple held hostage in the Philippines, KMBC 9 News reported.A letter from Martin and Gracia Burnham was carried out by hostages released late last week.

Muslim extremists kidnapped the Burnhams and 18 others in May.

Even though the couple wrote that they were tired and thin, the Burnhams still managed to include some jokes in their letter, family members said.

On Tuesday, President George W. Bush (news - web sites) will meet with the Philippine president. Bush is expected to offer military training and equipment to help fight the Muslim group Abu Sayyaf as part of the United States' new global campaign against terrorism, KMBC reported.
