ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Philippine security forces captured Thursday a notorious Abu Sayyaf member involved in the 2001 kidnapping of plantation workers in southern Philippines.

Capt. Alberto Caber, the Army's regional spokesman for 1st Division, identified the captured suspect as Abu Jaid alias Ajing. He said Jaid didn't resist arrest when he was accosted by military and police forces around 10:20 a.m. local time at Port Area village, Isabela city at the southern Philippine province of Basilan.

The arrest was made based on a warrant issued by Zamboanga City Judge Leo Jay Principe. Jaid was charged for his alleged participation in the 2001 kidnapping and murder of two plantation workers of the Golden Harvest plantation in Lantawan town.

Caber added civilian informants helped them to locate Jaid.

Jaid was brought to the military headquarters in this city and turned over to the police for proper disposition.
