WASHINGTON -- As part of its anti-terror war, the Bush administration is considering how it can help ensure the security of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program, US officials say Thursday.
Some US officials are wary of being seen as taking any steps that might legitimize or advance Pakistan's nuclear program, which Washington for years has tried to thwart with diplomacy and sanctions.
Officials, however, acknowledged that the US approach to Islamabad's nuclear program is under active review as Washington moves toward military action in Afghanistan after the September 11 attacks in New York and on the Pentagon. Reuters
